“The only thing constant is change”
Adjusting to change can be difficult and overwhelming. While some life transitions can be wonderful, many can cause stress and anxiety. These turning points may impact our thoughts about life’s meaning or trajectory, or even influence our sense of self. Common life transitions include the birth or death of children or grandchildren, relocation of loved ones, serious and disabling accidents or illnesses, or loss/changes in career or employment. Over a lifetime, many of us experience shifts within our roles and relationships, such as in the cases of marriage, divorce, and caregiver role changes that take place as children grow more independent or elderly parents need more assistance. While we cannot avoid many life transitions, we do not have to face them alone. Therapy can provide an outlet for processing the changes you are experiencing, and can help you develop coping skills to move forward with a restored sense of peace, purpose, and happiness.
